Ja-Nu Sifr

Biography

"Do it well, and look good doing it. Ideally, don't get shot."

— Ja-Nu Sifr

Ja-Nu Sifr was a male Tiss'shar mercenary, hailing from his native homeworld, Tiss'sharl. Born into a well-respected Tiss'sharl business family, Ja-Nu was always expected to follow in his father's footsteps. As the eldest son of the Sifr family, a world of white collars and boardrooms awaited the Tiss'shar from a young age, a world that Ja-Nu in time came to reject. Growing up he was always indifferent to learning the ins and outs of a business, instead finding joy in marksmanship and piloting and fencing — all respectable hobbies for a businessman, but no vocation.

It was many of the non-Tiss'shar tutors who opened up the galaxy to Ja-Nu, with stories of gunfights, hyperspace flights, distant planets, and glory. His parents were not happy when he left Tiss'sharl, though they were not surprised, not really. Ja-Nu missed them sometimes, but believed this was his path, and thought it his family's responsibility to make the first move to reach out; it was their stubbornness that caused this rift.

Ten years later Ja-Nu was a respectable mercenary who considered himself a professional. Despite his iconoclasm he had inherited some of the family's business acumen, insisting on being clean, well-dressed, and leaving no loose ends. Naturally he had associated with different factions in the galaxy but maintained his independence; Ja-Nu had for a long time stifled his moral objections as, ultimately, he hadn't considered himself significant in the course of galactic events. What could one contractor do to turn the tide, after all?

Having worked his way out of a debt to the Hutt Cartel and having done some small contracts for a member of the Dark Council of the Sith Empire, Ja-Nu was looking for new work. When asked, he stated that his goal was to "Save up enough to buy a nice space yacht and retire", though in reality, he has not thought that far ahead.
